Sugar Shack is one of the thriving home-based bakeries that delivers taste, quality and beautifully crafted cakes and cupcakes on your doorstep.
Upon digging about the owner of Sugar Shack, I came to know that there are two young people behind this big name, Sanya and Alisha. I am amazed to witness their creativity and efforts. Their cakes are simply WOW!
Here is a detailed interview of the youngpreneur Sanya Zahid of Sugar Shack, who started this online bakery with her cute little sister Alisha Zahid.
Social Book Pakistan wishes both of them luck and success and may they continue to spread happiness and joy with their super delicious and stunning cakes. We are honored to feature Sanya and Alisha.
Here let’s get to know a little about Ms. Alisha!
Tell us something about yourself. Your Name, Qualification and etc.
Hi! Im Alisha, the youngest in the duo! Im currently doing my last year of A-Levels. And I work on top of the cakes, the fondant art work that is! Let’s just say, Im more concerned with what goes on top rather than what’s inside.
What’s your earliest memory of baking?
Sneaking out a cookbook from my mom’s bookshelf when I attempted to make Meringues, which obviously turned out to be a disaster!
What was the greatest challenge you faced while starting a home-based bakery?
That would definitely be trying to juggle college and work together!
What is the most rewarding part of owning your own business?
The satisfaction you get when customers send you pictures of how we contributed in making their events unforgettable.
What is a typical day like for you?
Waking up to a hundred messages from Sanya, instructing me about the days orders while I get dressed for my classes. After coming back from school, I relax for a while and then get to work. That usually goes up till the evening or even night if it’s a busy day.
We’ve all had a baking fail, or in my case, several. Can you describe your worst baking disaster?
It happened once, I guess two years back. A wedding cake collapsed hours before it was to reach the venue. That is our worst cake memory hence we’re super careful with wedding cakes now. Haha.
How do you think you stand out from your competitors?
We don’t just make cakes, we make memories. We alter our way of work according to our customer’s needs, even if that means pulling an all-nighter! Because in the end, their appreciation and satisfaction is all we need to move forward!
What is your favorite cake and frosting combination?
Oo! I know! A chocolate fudge cake with vanilla buttercream on top! Yum!
How do you hope to see your bakery grow within the next year?
We hope to see more people join our family and allow us the pleasure of making their memories more beautiful!
Do you offer anything other than cakes?
Yes, we do! A lot of sweet and savory baked good along with customized sweet tables and giveaways.
How can our readers stay connected with you as well as the bakery?
What would you advice to other home-based bakers/entrepreneurs?
Don’t ever give up on your dreams, no matter how hard it looks like! Everything takes time but I promise you that it’s worth it!
